Kizoa Review

by Norma Martin

Description

A web-based photo slideshow and video creation platform. The website is designed for visitors to get started right off the bat. If you're unsure about using your own photos, the website provides a solid collection of "usual suspect" standard ones to practice on.

Even though the platform offers animation and video creation and lots of animation features, I limited my review to the "still image" side of the house. I was able to build a photo slideshow and a photo collage within a short amount of time. Then I decided to play with adding symbols and signs and texts, and the pop-up boxes give you lots of choices in colors, fonts, sizes.

The company is based in Paris, but it's U.S. customer-support team has an Austin-area phone number.

Access

The Basic version is free and comes with 1 GB storage. There are three paid versions, ranging in price of $40 (10 GB) to $130 (unlimited storage). If you upgrade to a paid version, you get a lifetime license, so there are no refunds. Kizoa makes it easy to upgrade to a higher tier since customers only pay the price difference.

What the Tool Does Well

I was looking for a still image tool that was somewhat idiot-proof and this one seems to fit the bill. I intentionally didn't watch the tutorials to see if I could figure out on my own how to build, change, adjust, delete and save slideshows and collages. I could...and did.

What it Does Poorly

The platform is seemingly designed for the scrapbook devotee. The free templates include all the holiday, season and babies&brides designs. If you just wanted to create a stylish photo slideshow or collage using a ready-made template, you are kind of out of luck.

While the website will let you download the finished product to your computer. The upload tools were limited to blogs, emails, Facebook and Twitter, which seems a bit limited to me since there are far more social-media platforms around these days.

What happens when you...

Built a collage only with the signs and symbols. It is not the most visually stunning collage, but I mainly wanted to see if the platform features depended on a photo.
