iStopMotion 3 Re-Review?

by [Andrew Waite]

Description

iStopMotion is an easy to use stop motion editor. It comes with tools that make making stop motion videos incredibly useful and easy.

Access

Boinx.com or the AppStore / also available on iOS

Sample Usage

Tips, tricks, and tutorials

You can download it for free and try it out.

It says it has built in support for using a DSLR.

What the Tool Does Well

Using the built in camera is actually pretty useful because it keeps the camera very still and you can then see right on your screen what has moved and how much. As opposed to trying to remember every time you take a picture on a regular camera. It has lots of options like onion-skinning, tilt-shift, color correction and sharpening tools.

What it Does Poorly

If you do not buy a license you can't export and you can only have it open for a very short time. I had it open for 15 minutes before it quit on me. The quality also seemed poor but if you use another camera that can change.

What happens when you...

It is cool to see the transparency of the camera to see what your next shot and last shot look like. This makes moving things easier and animating it better.

Additional Resources

Dragonframe is a professional version for $245, StopMotion Pro is another that acts more as a video editor.
