SpinArt has arrived on iPad!

SpinArt Studio is the iPad version of the App the New York Times said "if you and your child were stuck on a desert island with just one app, you'd want it to be SpinArt!" It's been redesigned and built from the ground up exclusively for the iPad.

SpinArt Studio expands on all the great features from the best-selling iPhone & iPod Touch App! This version includes 31 canvas shapes to paint on, a large color palette, and multiple brushes to use. All presented in beautiful HD resolution only available on the iPad.

  • Full 1024x768 HD resolution
  • 31 canvas shapes!
  • Large palette with 56 color choices, including rainbow and random colors.
  • 3 brush types and customizable sizes!
  • Multitouch painting with up to four fingers at once.
  • Improved glitter from the iPhone version.
  • Use in any device orientation.
  • Ability to offset the canvas to create even more amazing designs!
  • Save to your Photo Library or email directly to a friend.
  • Undo

I will be focusing on the SpinArt Studio for IPad, although there are additional versions

SpinArtX ($0.99 on iTunes)

Access

SpinArt is packed with features, and originally launched for iOS back in September of 2008. Now four years later, the developer is celebrating the four year anniversary by providing the SpinArt apps for free.  It used to be $2.99 for iPad, $1.99 for iPhone.  Now there is a completely FREE version, although some more advanced versions run up to $3.99. There’s SpinArt for iPhone, SpinArt Studio for iPad, and the universal SpinArtX. The later is a 3D version of SpinArt, which lets you make cosmic looking creations that are really not possible anywhere else, especially by just placing your finger on screen.

Sample Usage

What the Tool Does Well

1. Great customization!  You’re not just creating basic spin art either, as you have all kinds of customization at your fingertips. There are 31 canvas shapes (50 canvas shapes in ArtStudio+ verison), 56 color choices (60 in +), and three brush types (round, splatter and glitter). For example, you can paint a jigsaw puzzle with a rainbow colored brush, and then even add glitter. For further customization, you can offset the canvas for new style, and you can use up to four fingers at once.  The canvas shapes are great: stars, swirls, flowers, animals, Holiday theme (pumpkins, snowmen, Christmas trees etc.

2. The app offers an extremely easy to use interface, as you just hold your finger on screen to paint, and every new color and brush is just a couple taps away.

3. The design is outstanding, and it’s terrific to see your canvas burst into color right before your eyes. The neon colors on the black background are gorgeous, and viewing the colorful lines in motion is even greater than viewing the great still shots.

4. For iPad, The app takes advantage of the larger iPad screen, and you get to witness the step by step creation in real time.

5. Every single spin art will come out differently, easy techniques yet very neat art pieces.

6. Fun for kids and adults alike with ability to create instead of just consuming.  Provides the entire experience as the paint can run off the edges.

7. You can save and share the finished product.  Saving options include saving to photo library or the ArtStudio gallery.  Sharing options include: Facebook, Flikr, Twitter and e-mail.

8. Create unique and personalized photo art by using a photograph as a background.

9. Undo feature.

What it Does Poorly

Not much to complain about.  The app is versatile and easy to use.  Suggestions for developers would include adding text for a possibility of producing postcards, holiday greeting cards etc.
