Fresh Paint is an application that allows the user to create realistic oil paintings by on a canvas. Colors can be mixed and blended to create numerous colors. The tool also allows the user to upload photos and use the painting feature to customize the photo.

Access

The tool is compatible with Windows 8 and Windows RT devices. The tool is free to download. However, there are additional templates that can be downloaded that range from $0.00 to $1.99. These templates are reusable images that allow the user to customize the images by using the paint functionality of the tool. The templates include the following:

Craft Pack - images of customizable party invites and crafts (20 pages)
Variety Pack - includes paintable characters, painting starters and activities (22 pages)
Adventure Pack - images of rockets, monsters, blasters and planet (50 pages)
Friends Pack - images of animals, princesses, and ponies (50 pages)

What the Tool Does Well

The tool mixes and blends colors well and allows the user to use a stylus or fingers to paint. It has multiple canvas surfaces that the user can select to create their painting. The ability to erase and use the undo and redo functions is a plus. The tool also gives you the ability to share your work of art with others.

What it Does Poorly

The application is limited to Windows 8 and Windows RT devices which puts a limitation on those who do not possess these systems. The tool could also use a user manual to help one gain a better understanding of the tools that are available to create the art piece. The tool would also benefit if it allowed the user to rotate the painting prior to saving.
