Skitch by Evernote

by Deepti Nerlikar

Skitch is a simple, powerful collaboration tool for annotating images, and is available for Mac, iPad, iPhone, iPod Touch and Android devices. Skitch allows you to quickly capture, annotate, modify and share all kinds of images, and sync them to your Evernote account so that they are available to view, share and edit everywhere you have Skitch.

The application is free for download for Mac devices, Windows and Android. It's available for download here

Sample Usage

What the Tool Does Well

  • You can add layers to images
  • Basically adheres to the adage that pictures are worth a thousand words.
  • You can take a screen cap of your desktop
  • You can directly sync to your Evernote account
  • Or you can save the image to your computer and use on another platform

What it Does Poorly

  • Not really the pioneer in the field
  • Since it's affiliated to Evernote, it would get more usage than it would as an independent entity
  • Limited editing options (though the makers claim more sophisticated options will be available in future releases)
