Tool Review: Sony Vegas Family of Video Editing/Production Software (by Eva Marie)

Sony has developed 4 different versions of their Vegas Movie Studio. The difference is in the number of features included, so you can choose according to your need. They range from $45 to $195. Vegas Pro is the professional version of their editing and production suite and it cost $680. You can find them at deep discount on Amazon.com. It's a little confusing deciding on the right package but you can try everything out first for a free 30 day trial.

Compared to Final Cut or Adobe Premier, Vegas is easy to use and has an intuitive interface. It's a lot of software for a very reasonable price. I use it to edit video I capture from video games using Fraps and it's the only editor I've tried that can read the files correctly. The pros and cons really depend on your needs: the professional will still choose either Final Cut or Premier but if you're a YouTuber it's most likely all you need.
