ComicPress

ComicPress is a Wordpress based hosting software for webcomics (or things that you'd like to display in a webcomic like format).  It installs within a wordpress.org system and augments the standard interface to create site more readily accessible to images instead of text.

Like Wordpress, ComicPress has an easily adjustable/configurable theme system.  You can readily download free-made website themes or create your own.  CSS customization makes it even more customizable.  Where the software really outdoes regular Wordpress is in how it makes archiving and display fo comics simpler.  Multiple archive page formats listing comics by title, number, or date in form of thumbnails, lists, or calendars.  When uploading images you can incorporate a storyline hierarchy to auto archive based on story threads instead of just number.  This way people can search by storyline (if the comic has a branching tree) instead of having to just skip through stories or chapters they don't wish to see.  Five page layouts are also included for varying kinds of comics.  Ranging from standard (such as a regular 4 panel strip) to 3 column or graphic novel layouts.  Beyond the archiving and layouts, ComicPress allows for timed and mass uploads.  The software enables the user to preupload all the images he wishes, either individually or en masse with a single folder, and date when they are to posted.

If I have any issue with the way ComicPress does things organizationally it's with filenames.  The system requires a very rigid filetype.  With the version I was using I ended up constantly renaming files.  If you aren't particular about naming conventions there is an auto filename feature built in to categorize and name everything automatically for you.
