Ocenaudio Review

by Mia Francis-Poulin

Description

From CCM.net: "Oceanaudio is an audio editor that allows you to work as an absolute professional of sound. With it, you can edit your audio file, work on the spectrum, cut or assemble parts, apply effects, etc. It supports editing a large file, multi-selection and offers you a visual editor for an accurate selection or cutting. In addition, Oceanaudio has many effects including fade out, silence, etc. Finally, it offers an interface with an equalizer and supports VSTplug-ins (Virtual Studio Technology). It is a cross-platform application that works on Windows, Mac OSX and Linux."

I downloaded a Gospel song that I'd added to my computer for my mother and played around with shortcuts (Ctrl+X for cut, Ctrl+V for paste) to try and trim songs.

Played around with some of the Effects like

Tips, tricks, and tutorials

It's deceptively simple. One has to know what each of the options do to really make the most of the platform. But if you're simply trying to trim down some audio for whatever need you have, it's straightforward enough to make this a good download.

What the Tool Does Well

  • Visualization
  • You can use common shortcuts
  • Saves in multiple file formats
  • Supports multiple audio files for richer mixing

What it Does Poorly

  • Not much explanation in how to utilize the tools from the website (it's not in English and the webpage is auto-translated)
  • not necessarily for the novice remixer--you have to know what you're doing or have a lot of time to make mistakes

What happens when you...

try to break down an individual song by taking away the clarity?

It's easy to add to the song with this program to take away the clarity, but it's not so easy (or intuitive) to make the song "better" in this program. You have to really know what you're doing to use the program correctly, but this is not necessarily the case when trying to "break" the program.
