Image Blend Review

by Genielin Nucal

Description

To me it's like basic photoshop on the go. Although easily accessible in the handheld aspect more effort is needed. Very user friendly as well. Image Blender puts like this:

"A simplistic and creative app for combining images with masks and different blend modes on your iPhone and iPad.

While the use and basic idea is very simple, there's almost an endless list of things you can do with it. Some things worth highlighting are:
- Multi Exposure
- Choosing where and how much to apply of filter from other apps.
- Adding or replacing objects.
- Adding textures.
- Creating your own personalised filters with overlays"

Tips, tricks, and tutorials

  • Creating Text with an image inside of it
    • First use an all white image with black text on it which can be found on the internet or created on another app (phonto is a great app for this that is FREE).
    • Next choose a picture you want to show through the text.
    • Put both of them into image blender (note: make sure the text image is on top & the photo is on the bottom.)
    • Next slide up with your finger to bring up the modes. Pick - SCREEN.
    • Lastly pull the slider all the way to the right.
    • VOILA! You have a photo image in the shape of text.
  • Creating 'Hidden Typography'
    • Place text over an image however you would like it (again, phonto is a good app for this).
    • Then take the text over image & the original image before the text and bring them into Image Blender (make sure the original image is on top of the text image).
    • Next, tap on MASK and 'erase' over the text parts that you want to be hidden.
    • Save the mask and now you have hidden text!
  • Multi-Exposure Photo
    • Take a photo that has a dark subject & white background.
    • Next, get a photo that you'd like to pull through it's exposed parts (exposed as in lightest/whitest parts).
    • Next, bring them into Image Blender.
    • Put the dark subject & white background photo overtop the photo you chose to pull through.
    • Slide up for the modes. Choose - Screen and bring the slider all the way to the right.
    • There! Now you have a Multi-exposure image!

What the Tool Does Well

  • It does multi-exposures very well using the screen setting.
  • It's for an on-the-go photoshop (with a few loose ends)
  • You can edit with any size photo without causing lossless.

What it Does Poorly

  • Not found for Android
  • No zoom options when arranging (zooming during arranging can come in handy when deciding where to overlay).

What happens when you...

  • By masking pieces of the overlay I found that you can create a photo where text is hiding behind certain parts of the photo.
